Hey I've been a member of the Gold refining forum for a couple months now and haven't even put in a new member keeping my head down until my own project is furher along. I graduated summa c** laude with a bachelor's in chemistry and in medicine and haven't had any use for my degrees for over 10 years now so precious metal refining seem to be a good hobby. -spent almost 3 years now taking at least 10 minutes out of every day to pull circuit boards out of TVs on the side of the road and collect any other form of e scrap I come across - that a girlfriend taking the stuff apart gives me something to do at night.
. But now I got a storage unit full of circuit boards - looking at at least a couple thousand pounds of them fortunately I live a 5-hour drive away from board sort.
I've had a lot of free time will continue to have free time until mid spring so I can not only put together enough of many different components to do a run of each type, but I'll be able to have enough TV chips to be able to run specific types of them and get an approximate yield Way to the contribute to the community but until I know for sure nothing's going to come up that'll prevent that I'm keeping my mouth shut over there however the little bit of work I have done plus a lot of junking has got me familiar with precious metal buying and selling and when the call came out to check out this kind of sister forum I bit.
I do have plans to sell recycled precious metals for overspot value but I discussed my plans around town then I see people I spoke to picking up TVs that would have otherwise rotted on the side of the road (lots and lots of TVs with nowhere to go not picked up by garbage men, The hood is where TVs go to die and as long as I keep my mouth shut people leave them be)... To be sure I'm the only one doing it - I'll only reveal what I think to be my great plan on selling what precious metals I recover after I see it succeed or sink... 2-3 mo.
At that time I can contribute to this forum - so if anybody ever has the same idea they can see how it worked out for me. And I can do this after I contribute to the refining forum (yields from TV specific chips and other TV related PM recovery knowledge)... And then so doing feel like I've accomplished something with my hobby; I live imparted some knowledge that maybe somewhat entertaining or even useful, not just spending way too much time to earn too little money. Profitable e-scrapping is very much contingent on how much my time is worth. The last few years have been a learning exercise that will, if I do not find much professional success, inform how I spend time e-scrapping in the future... Also be maintained as a hobby to the chagrin of any future relations
